God Gave
Us Ten Problem-Solving Devices
First
in the Line of Battle Is
Rebound
If we confess [tell privately God the Father] our [known] sins,
He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our [known] sins and
to cleanse us from all [unknown, or forgotten sins]
unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9. |
|
God knew
billions and billions of years ago that Adam, through his own
volition, would sin. This sin resulted in spiritual death for Adam
and the gaining of an old sin nature. The spiritual death and the
old sin nature are passed down to all men at birth. However, even
before God created man, He graced us out! He had a plan for our
salvation. He would send His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the
cross. Jesus Christ came and paid the penalty for all of our sins.
He was judged in our place. This was the solution for sin! Man
just has to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation! Then
God gives us His righteousness, +R. To get us pointed in the right
direction, God put the need to know Him in our souls! Only God can
fulfill that need!

|
|
For by
grace you have been saved through faith [believing in Christ]; and
that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of
works, that no one should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
|
|
Once
we respond to that need through the power of the Holy Spirit, and
believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, we have eternal
security. We never lose our salvation. God blots out all of the
sins we committed before salvation. However, because of our old
sin nature, we still do commit sins after salvation and lose the
filling of the Holy Spirit. No problem! All we have to do is
privately tell God the Father our sins. This is called REBOUND.
When we rebound, God forgives and forgets our sins. We have to
forgive ourselves and forget our sins also. When we rebound, we
are again filled with the Holy Spirit. We can learn Bible
doctrine. We have divine power and we are on the right road once
more! Our need to know God can be fulfilled!

|
|
But if
we judged ourselves rightly [rebound], we should not be judged
[divine discipline]. 1 Corinthians 11:31
I, even I, am the One who wipes out your transgressions for My own
sake; and I will not remember your sins. Isaiah 43:25
|
|
Sometimes after we sin we may feel guilty. God does not want us to
feel guilty! Guilt just messes up our thinking! We all have an old
sin nature that was passed down to us from Adam. (We can’t put
Adam down for sinning in a perfect environment! We all would have
done the same thing.) Because of our old sin nature, we will sin
until the day we die! However, we don’t have to be in slavery to
sin. God did not put a need for guilt in us! God wants us to focus
on Him, not on our sins! Jesus Christ has been judged and has paid
the price for our sins. When we sin we just need to REBOUND and we
are set free!! We are no longer slaves to sin!!
|
|

|
|
Then I acknowledged my sin to You and did not cover up my
iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord” –
and You forgave the guilt of my sin. Psalm 32:5
|
|
In our old sin nature we have an area of strength
and an area of weakness. When we think of an area of strength, we
think that that must be a good thing! WRONG thing in this case; it
is the source of human good. Human good is deeds done in the
cosmic system. As believers, we need to do divine good, which
means that we are filled with the Holy Spirit and our motivation
is to give praise to God; it is not to give praise to ourselves.
We are to use our strengths in the power of the Holy Spirit, not
in the power of our old sin nature. We can get caught up in our
strengths and forget Who gave them to us! They are for us to
enjoy, but we are never to forget that God gave them to us to
glorify Him!
|
|

|
|
Now if
any man [believer] builds upon the foundation [Jesus Christ] with
gold, silver, precious stones [divine good], wood, hay, straw
[human good], each man’s work will become evident; for the day
will show it [the judgment seat of Christ], because it is to be
revealed with fire; and the fire itself will test the quality of
each man’s work. If a man’s work [divine good] which he has built
upon it remains, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work
[human good] is burned up, he shall suffer loss [of rewards, not
eternal salvation]; but he himself shall be saved [delivered to
heaven], yet as through fire. l Corinthians
3:12-15
|
|
Now let’s look at the area of weakness. This is a little
easier to understand. The area of weakness is where temptation can
get to us and it is easy for us to choose to sin. Notice I said
CHOOSE to sin! We use our own volition! We are tempted in three
categories of personal sins: mental attitude sins (thinking sins),
sins of the tongue (talking sins), and overt sins (doing sins).
SOME mental attitude sins are guilt, fear, worry, self-pity, and
bitterness. SOME sins of the tongue are judging, bullying,
gossiping, criticizing, and lying. SOME overt sins are stealing,
drug abuse, murder, and outbursts of anger. We all have our area
of weakness so we are never to judge others for their weaknesses.
What is easy for us will be difficult for someone else; and what
is difficult for us will be easy for someone else.
|
|

|
|
Do not
judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge
others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use [how
harsh cruel you are], it will be measured to you [you’ll get what
you give].
Matthew 7:1-2
|
 |
Our old sin natures
also lean toward certain areas. One is legalism. When we are
legalistic, we want to do some system of works to get God’s
forgiveness and favor. God
already did all of the work at salvation, so we can relax! |
The other is living for
pleasure and for self. This may bring us happiness for a little
while, but it will never be lasting happiness. As believers,
let’s go for the happiness God has for each one of us, His
happiness, +H! |
 |
|
|
|
2
Corinthians 12:9 But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for
you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”
|
|
After we tell God the Father our sins, REBOUND,
we are to put them out of our minds and forget them! Thinking
about them again could cause more sinning! We don’t want to be
chain sinning! We need to break the link. God has forgotten them.
He has given us grace and mercy. He wants us to go forward in His
plan with the power of the Holy Spirit. .
|
|

|
|
Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet;
but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching
forward [moving on] to what lies ahead. Philippians 3:13 (Italics
added.)
|
|
So, when we rebound, we need to:
-
Tell our sins to God
the Father, 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful
and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all
unrighteousness.
-
Isolate them [put them
out of our minds], Hebrews 12:15 See to it that no one comes
short of the grace of God, that no root of bitterness sprouting
up cause trouble, and through this [bitterness] many are
contaminated.
-
Forget them,
Philippians 3:13 Brethren, I do not evaluate myself to have
attained, but I do concentrate on one thing: forgetting those
sins which are behind, and pressing toward those things which
are ahead [living in God’s plan].
-
Keep moving,
Philippians 3:14 I keep advancing toward the objective for the
prize of that upward call from God [escrow blessings] in Christ
Jesus.

|
|
|
Psalm 23:1-3
The Lord is
MY
Shepherd, I shall not be in want.
HE
makes me lie down in green pastures,
HE
leads me beside quiet waters [life support],
HE RESTORES MY
SOUL
[REBOUND].
HE
guides me in paths of righteousness for
HIS
name’s sake. [HE
paid a big price for me, so the Lord Jesus Christ gets the
glory!].
