Sovereignty
 

     Sovereignty is God’s supreme authority and rule over all He creates. Since God gave existence to every creature and all things, He has authority over them. All of His decisions for His creation are made with eternal wisdom and omniscience. God can’t make a bad decision! God always deals with us, His creation, through grace. He will not force us to choose His way. We all have free will. The sovereignty of God wants the best for us and wants us to choose His way. Our God is an awesome God!

Psalm 47:2   “How awesome is the Lord Most High, the great King over all the earth!”

 

Righteousness

     Righteousness is the absolute perfection of God’s character and person. God is absolute good. He cannot be tempted nor can He sin. The intellect and character of God are perfect. He can’t be ignorant nor absurd. God’s righteousness is perfect, demanding perfect justice. What the righteousness of God demands, the justice of God does. Our God is an awesome God!

Deuteronomy 32:4  “He is the Rock, His works are perfect, and all His ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is He.”
 

Justice

     Justice is God’s infinite fairness in blessing and rewards, as well as judgment and condemnation. It is impossible for God to be unfair or make a wrong decision. He gives blessings and penalties. His penalties are never out of revenge, or to get even with us. They are to free us! They are to get us on the right track!! Our God is an awesome God!

Psalm 89:14  “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; grace and truth go before you.”  
 

Love

     Love is God’s attitude of esteem and regard toward Himself and His concern, mercy, and kindness toward His created beings. God loves His own righteousness. When we believed in Christ, we received God’s righteousness. God loves His own righteousness with an infinite love. So, He loves us believers with an infinite love. That’s a lot of love! There is nothing we can do to earn the love of God or the right to live with Him forever. We are qualified only by faith in Christ. This is grace! Grace is all that God is free to do for mankind on the basis of the saving work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Our God is love. Our God is an awesome God!

1 John 4:16  “And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.”

Eternal Life

     God has eternal life. There never was a time when God did not live. There will never be a time when He stops living! Nothing caused God to come into existence. Time is His invention for the convenience of His creatures. He gave us a beginning and time to live. If God was gracious and thoughtful enough to give us time, we must give time back to Him. Our most important way of doing this is setting time aside to learn Bible doctrine. The eternal life of God is given to all who believe in Christ. Imagine, as believers we will go on living with God in heaven forever! God never had a beginning nor will He have and end! Our God is an awesome God!

Jeremiah 10:10  “But the Lord is the true God; He is the living God, the eternal King.” 

Omnipresence

     The omnipresence of God literally means everywhere present. It describes God’s attribute of eternal and simultaneous presence in every place. God is not subject to the limitations of space. He is personally an eyewitness to every activity of our lives. He knows our weaknesses, our problems, and our circumstances. He is personally interested in us every moment, and He is available to help us immediately. He is the perfect Counselor. He always has time for everyone simultaneously (at the same time). Our God is an awesome God!

Psalm 139:8-10   “If I go up to the heavens, You are there; if I make my bed in the depths, You are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there Your hand will guide me, Your right hand will hold me fast”

Omniscience

     Omniscience means all-knowing and describes God as having complete knowledge of all things. God never learns anything because He has always known everything. He has never had to study! Total wisdom as well as total knowledge belong to God. He knows every step we will take, but He never interferes with our volition. God’s knowledge is always total and perfect. There is no way we can improve on His system. God knows what is best for us. We can simply go along with His perfectly wise policy which has our best interest in mind. Our God is an awesome God!

Psalm 139:1-4  ”O Lord, You have searched me and You know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; You perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; You are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue You know it completely, O Lord.”

Omnipotence

     Omnipotence means all powerful or almighty. God is all powerful or almighty. He can do all things which are not contradictory to His own nature. God will never make right wrong, nor will He act foolishly. Infinite energy and power belong to God. He doesn’t sleep; He never gets tired! When we need energy for doing His will, He provides the energy! So, we can’t make excuses! Our God is an awesome God!

Ephesians 3:20-21  “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”

Immutability

     Immutability is God’s inability to change. He cannot change. He doesn’t need to change since everything about Him is perfect. He never had a day that was better or worse than another day. Since God has all knowledge, He deals with everything according to the information He has, which is complete and doesn’t change. Since He is unchangeably perfect, His decisions are always perfect. He is totally faithful and stable. As we would say, “solid as a rock”. God cannot change His own nature, therefore God is always at His best. Our God is an awesome God!

Psalm 33:11  “But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations.”

Veracity

     Veracity is God’s absolute truth. God is the truth; He is the Source of truth. God is the Source of Bible doctrine. We can grow spiritually only by taking in Bible doctrine on a consistent basis. Then “you shall know the truth [Bible doctrine] and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). Our God is an awesome God!

Psalm 25:5  “…guide me in Your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long.”
