Qualities That Make Up the Fruit of
the Spirit
The fruit of the Spirit is shown by the life of Jesus Christ. It
is shown by His attitude and behavior. The Lord Jesus Christ had
supernatural qualities. In other words, He was filled with the
Holy Spirit and had the power of the Holy Spirit. The Lord Jesus
Christ had the fruit of the Spirit! He teaches us how to have the
same supernatural qualities!

Galatians
5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is
love,
joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law [we
don’t do works to gain them; we study and the Holy Spirit changes
us]

LOVE
The first part of the fruit of the Spirit is
LOVE. We are to have personal love for God. That means that we are
to love Him because of Who He is. In order to do that, we have to
learn through Bible doctrine Who God is. We can’t love Him until
we know Him. The more we learn about God, the more we learn to
love Him. The more we love Him, the more thankful we are to God
for all that He is and does. We will see that God is completely
worthy of our love. There is nothing unlovable about Him! This
LOVE is part of the fruit of the Spirit.

Impersonal Love
We are to have impersonal love for all mankind.
“What?” you say. “That’s impossible!” Not so when the Holy Spirit
is changing us spiritually as we learn and believe Bible doctrine.
He gives us the part of the fruit called LOVE. This includes
impersonal love for all mankind. Impersonal love means that we
treat others well because we have the filling of the Holy Spirit,
and the thinking of Jesus Christ. Impersonal love does not depend
on what we think of the other people, if we like them or dislike
them. It does not depend on how they act or treat us. It does
depend on us abiding in the Vine, being filled with the Holy
Spirit and using the thinking of the Lord Jesus Christ!

Romans 5:5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured
out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, Whom He has given
us.
|
|
When we use impersonal love we stay away from
mental attitude sins. Mental attitude sins are thoughts that don’t
line up with the thinking of Christ, Bible doctrine. An example
would be being angry with someone and wanting to get even.
Instead, we are thoughtful of others, have good manners, and avoid
sins of the tongue. We relax and don’t judge others.

Corinthians 2:16 For who has known the mind of the Lord that he
may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.
|
|
When we use impersonal love we
accept and tolerate people as we find them. We don’t judge people
and put them down. We encourage them and build them up. This LOVE
is part of the fruit of the Spirit. It takes learning, believing,
and using Bible doctrine to get impersonal love. Sooo, keep on
gaining wisdom and therefore, impersonal love for all mankind! Now
that’s a relaxing thought!!

Corinthians 13:4-8 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy
[have jealousy], it does not brag, it is not proud [arrogant]. It
is not rude, it is not self-seeking…
|
|
… it is not easily angered, it keeps no
record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with
the truth.
|
|

|
|
|
It always protects, always trusts,
always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

This kind of love takes being
filled with the Holy Spirit and learning, believing, and using
Bible doctrine! Who would not want this love or fruit??? We don’t
make it, God makes it in us. This is a DIVINE CHARACTERISTIC! It
can’t be produced by human efforts or works. We don’t need to put
in strenuous self effort. It is produced in us through the Holy
Spirit. LET’S TAKE IN BIBLE DOCTRINE AND RELAX!
